POPE FRANCIS VISIT TO UGANDA

Uganda was honoured to host Pope Francis from 27th to 29thNovember 2015. The visit by the Pope was a pilgrimage in honour of the Uganda Christian Martyrs. The Microfinance Support Centre Ltd joined hundreds of Ugandans in supporting the preparation for the Pope's Visit. MSC and its employees bought twenty-six rosaries worth 2,600,000 million shillings for the renovation of the Namugongo Martyrs' Shrine. The money was handed over to Mr. Robert Kabushenga the Managing Director of New Vision Group. This took place on 19th November 2015 at the MSC head office in Kololo.
While handing over a cheque to Mr. Kabushenga, the Executive Director MSC Mr. John Peter Mujuni said MSC associates with the causes dear to the Pope - the poor and the environment. He said that MSC programmes are geared to supporting the poor in rural areas so as to improve their quality of life through provision of affordable credit. MSC also has a loan product meant to fund activities that promote environmental protection.
While handing over the rosaries to the Executive Director MSC, Mr. Kabushenga thanked MSC and Staff for their contributions and pledged that all the money would go towards the renovation of Namugongo Martyrs Shrines.
