The Microfinance Support Centre Ltd falls under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development.

In accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of Association regarding the Board of Directors, MSC has a nine-member board who are appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. The Board of Directors serve for a period of 3 years and are eligible for re-appointment for another term not exceeding 3 years.

In February 2018, five members of the Board of Directors were appointed to replace five members of the previous Board of Directors, whose terms of office had expired. The new team, now headed by Dr. Kisamba-Mugerwa, carries a wealth of demonstrated and relevant expertise and experience to the already existing Board skill set comprising of Mr. Odoi Albert, Dr. Birungi Korutaro, Mr. Vincent Ssemakula and Mr. Mujuni John Peter.

Dr Wilberforce Kisamba-Mugerwa Chairperson is an Agricultural Economist and serves as the Executive Chairperson of the National Planning Authority, a position he has held since 2008. Prior to that, he was the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries; State Minister for Finance and Economic Planning and Member of Parliament from 1980-2004. In 2009, he was appointed visiting professor for International Studies Rural Development at Williams College, Massachusetts USA, and Senior Research Associate with Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR). He has a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Makerere University and vast practical experience in various fields both locally and internationally. He practices farming in his home district, utilizing his agricultural knowledge for development purposes. There is no doubt that Dr. Kisamba-Mugerwa will steer MSC to greater heights.

Mr Gonzaga Mayanja Board Member is the Ag. Commissioner for Monitoring and Evaluation (Local Government) in the Office of the Prime Minister. He holds a Masters degree in Economic Policy and has over twenty-two years' experience in decentralization; local government planning and budgeting; and monitoring and evaluation of development programs. He has coordinated several donor-funded programs in Northern Uganda and has conducted trainings on numerous subjects for both government and civil society organizations.

Ms Biyinzika Ruth Musoke Board Member is a member of the Senior Management Team at Private Sector Foundation Uganda, heading the Skills Development Fund, a position she has held since 2016. She is a financial services expert, with an MBA specializing in SME Development and a Bachelor of Commerce degree. She has over ten years proven working experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; and has worked extensively on complex development programs in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ghana for international donor organizations including European Union, African Development Bank and USAID. She also has considerable experience in microfinance, having been involved in the set-up of thirty-eight SACCOs for which she designed financial services products targeting SMEs.

Mr Juma Walusimbi Board Member is a dedicated, resourceful and passionate public and private sector professional, with an MBA degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Accounting. He has over thirty-six years of illustrious central banking experience with Bank of Uganda, where he held several positions including Director Communications, Director External Debt Management and Deputy Head Banking Supervision. He also headed the Business Development and Marketing, as well as HR and Administration departments at Tropical Bank Ltd for four years. He has international exposure gained through negotiations with various Development Partners and Multilateral Financial Institutions on behalf of Uganda; and played a key role in the reduction and re-scheduling of Uganda's external debt. Mr. Walusimbi is currently a part-time Independent Financial Services consultant, a Board Member of FINCA Uganda and a farmer in Bajjo, Bombo and Luwero district.

Mr Robert Barigye Board Member is the Asst. Commissioner of Cooperative Development and Policy in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree majoring in Financial Management and has close to seventeen years of practical experience in capacity building across the economic and demographic stratum. He has been instrumental in building and strengthening strategic partnerships between SACCOs, Unions and Area Marketing Enterprises to promote agricultural credit to farmers along the value chain. He is a passionate farmer and environmentalist, and is presently spearheading interventions to mainstream climate change mitigation and sustainable land use management in cooperatives.

Mr Albert Odio Board Member is the Director, Oxford High School, Mbale. He holds a Master of Education Management degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economic History. He has received extensive training for secondary school teachers in the United States, and Post Graduate training in research from Center of Basic Research. He has held high level positions in the education sector including Education Officer and Head of History and General Paper Departments at Mbale Senior Secondary school; Deputy Headmaster at Elgon High school; and Senior Examiner at the Uganda National Examinations Board.

Dr Birungi Korutaro Board Member is the Team Leader of the Markets and Policy Analysis Unit at Kilimo Trust, a regional NGO involved in trade based agricultural interventions in the EAC. She has ten years' experience in value chain development; designing and managing enterprise development interventions; and conducting investment climate research in East and Southern Africa. Dr. Korutaro has worked with both public and private sector, civil society and development partners to generate evidence based solutions to development problems. She holds a PhD in Business Management and Administration, a Masters degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Statistics.

Mr Vincent Ssemakula Board Member has extensive experience in mobilization and negotiation drawn largely from various positions held within Local Government. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences and a Diploma in Secondary Education.

Mr John Peter Mujuni ED / CEO is an Economist with a wealth of experience having worked in senior positions in the United Nations, National Social Security Fund, and Uganda Government Service among others.
